Daniel W. Hartman graduated from the University of Maryland, College of
Engineering with a B.S.C.E., degree in civil engineering. He received his law
degree from the St. Thomas University School of Law and his Masters of Law from
the George Washington University, National Law Center. Dan is licensed as an
attorney in both Florida and the District of Columbia.
Prior to and during his attendance at law school Dan worked as a consulting
engineer. His experience as an engineer ranged from inspection duties on large
scale construction projects in and around Washington, D.C., to preparing utility
valuations for investor-owned utilities in Florida.
Dan has extensive knowledge of environmental and real-estate related law. He has
advised public and private clients on a broad spectrum of issues ranging from
land use, zoning, the adoption and enforcement of ordinances, to eminent domain
proceedings and coastal construction permitting. In addition, Dan is very active
with environmental resource permitting, water use permitting, utility formation
and regulation, real estate development, and construction law. The experience Dan gained as a consulting engineer has provided him with insight into local government, environmental, utility, and construction issues faced by the Firm’s clients. Strong ties with the regulated and engineering communities provide him with added depth and the ability to address legal, technical and practical issues that arise during all types of representation.
Dan is a member of The Economic Club of Florida, the American Society of Civil Engineers, The Order of the Engineer, and the Florida Stormwater Association.

Jeanne B. Curtin graduated from The Florida State University with a B.S. in Political Science. She later received her Master of Business Administration degree and her J.D. from The Florida State University. While in law school Jeanne interned for Judge Davis, District Court of Appeal, First District of Florida. Jeanne was recognized by the Tallahassee Democrat in 2008 as one of 25 Women You Need to Know. During her final semester of law school and thereafter, Jeanne served as a Senior Cabinet Aide to the Secretary of State of Florida. Among Jeanne's responsibilities were researching and advising the Secretary on all land use and environmental issues that came before her as Secretary of State and as a member of the Florida Cabinet. Jeanne worked closely with the Department of Environmental Protection and she was very active in the permitting of activities and uses within State waters and on State lands, the acquisition of land and sales of State lands, wetland permitting, sovereign submerged lands issues, and eminent domain proceedings. Jeanne has provided legal services to private and public clients on issues ranging from land use, litigation and appellate matters, threatened and endangered species issues, and marina permitting projects, to the drafting and enforcement of ordinances and permit violations, school siting, annexation, coastal construction building permitting, and beach access issues and harbor questions. Jeanne serves as a Director of the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and on the FSU College of Law Board of Visitors. She served as a Catalyst with the Knight Creative Communities Initiative and as President of the Tallahassee Film Festival during its inaugural year. In addition, Jeanne was a mentor at Wesson Elementary School from 2002 – 2006, and she served as President of Capital Women’s Network from 2006 – 2007. She is a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class XXII, Tiger Bay, Capital Women’s Network, and The Economic Club of Florida. |
Ethan Andrew Way received his juris doctor degree, with honors, from the Florida State University College of Law. He has focused his career on criminal trial law and complex trial practice, in both State and Federal Courts. Ethan served as both an Assistant Public Defender and Assistant State Attorney early in his career. Those experiences and training give him a unique ability to evaluate a case “from both sides” and to realistically gauge the complexity, ramifications and potential outcomes for criminal clients at the on-set of representation. Ethan practices primarily in the Tallahassee area, but has managed cases throughout Florida. Ethan has submitted appeals in the First and Second District Courts of Appeal, and in 2005, argued before the Florida Supreme Court. In addition, he has appeared in U.S. Federal Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. In 2004, Ethan was recognized as a specialist in criminal trial law by the Florida Bar. Less than one half of 1% of all lawyers in Florida are specialists in criminal trial law. Ethan is active in local and statewide professional organizations. In 2006 he was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court’s Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Criminal Cases. He has served as a member of the Florida Bar’s Criminal Procedure Rules Committee, and served as chair of the Florida Bar’s Second Judicial Circuit Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee from 2004 until 2006. Ethan served as President of the local chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 2002 until 2004, and was again elected in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Ethan continues to serve as President of the local chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a Life Member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a member of the Bench/Bar Committee of the Second Judicial Circuit, appointed by the Chief Judge. In 2008 Ethan was appointed to the Florida Bar’s Criminal Law Certification Committee. Ethan was on the faculty of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ 2005 seminar “Death is Different,” and taught on the issue of plea bargaining and evaluation of death penalty cases. He has lectured on the critically important topic of jury selection in civil and criminal cases. He has been featured in numerous articles in the Tallahassee Democrat, has appeared as a legal commentator on CBS affiliate WCTV Channel 6, and been heard as a panelist on 88.9, WFSU. In addition to his criminal practice, Ethan utilizes his trial skills in family and marital law cases, civil cases, land use disputes and administrative proceedings relating to professional licensure defense. Ethan has represented large corporations and other businesses in litigation relating to regulatory, licensing and contract disputes. |
